Professional Profile

After years of employment in the private high school sector, Dawn Simmons transitioned to Milwaukee Public Schools. Following six years of teaching middle school English Language Arts, Dawn later served as a District-wide Literacy Coach. Additionally, Dawn provided family workshops in the areas of Common Core State Standards and Response to Intervention. She was also employed with the Marquette University High School-Stanley P. Herbert College Prep Leadership Program.

Thereafter, Dawn founded Create! Literacy, LLC. The organization’s primary goal is to provide culturally responsive consultation services and trainings to enhance college and career readiness.
